(02/17/05) - Cartoon Network has announced an additional episode order for 23 new episodes of Justice League Unlimited.
"This season, Black Canary, Shayera, Vigilante, Vixen and The Question step up to face such villains as Lex Luthor, Felix Faust and Tobias Whale. And Superman takes on Cadmus in a battle that will determine the future of the League." (The official description giving by Cartoon Network.)
(01/27/05) - According to Cartoon Network, recent episodes have ranked No. 1 in its time period on basic cable in delivery/rating among boys 9-14. Tweens 9-14 delivery (800,000) increased by 118 percent and ratings (3.3) by 120 percent over last year, and Kids 6-11 delivery (1,029,000) jumped by 49 percent and ratings (4.2) by 45 percent.
(10/07/04) - Chronos, aka David Clinton, will be the villain in the two-part season finale, "The Once and Future Thing." Chronos will be voiced by Peter MacNicol (Ally McBeal). Mindy Sterling (Austin Powers) will provide the voice of his wife Enid.
(5/6/04) Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett, Paul Dini, Stan Berkowitz and Dwayne McDuffie appeared for a Warner Bros. Animation panel at Wondercon last Saturday and discussed the Justice League’s upcoming 3rd and 4th seasons.
From the panel discussion, here are is a list of tidbits:
- When the 3rd season begins in August, it will have a new opening sequence.
Season 3 and Season 4 will both have 13 episodes and be a half-hour long.
- Mongul returns in the second episode of the third season, an adaptation of the Alan Moore story, "For the Man Who Has Everything."
- Other villains appearing will be Circe, Ares and Chronos.
- Amazo will be a returning villain. The episode will have an “army” of heroes that must fight Amazo.
- Dennis Farina is providing the voice of WildCat in an episode written by Bob Goodman. Gina Torres (Firefly) will be the voice of Vixen in another episode. The Elongated Man will be voiced by Jeremy Piven. Supergirl will be appearing at least twice. The Question will be voiced by Jeffrey Combs (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine).
- The episode featuring Zatanna is "pretty much a continuation of that storyline" from the Batman animated series.
- "Starcrossed" will be released on DVD (July 13) after airing on the Cartoon Network.
- Vehicles in Justice League Unlimited, including a new Javelin, will be digitally created.
(12/30/03) The Continuum reports that George Eads will be providing the voice of Captain Atom for the third season of Justice League. Eads, 36, currently plays Nick Stokes on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He has also appeared on such shows as ER and Strange Luck.
(12/29/03) The Continuum reports that Kin Shriner will provide the voice of Green Arrow for the third season of the Justice League animated series. Shriner, 50, is best known for his work as Scotty Baldwin on ABC’s Port Charles and General Hospital soap operas. In addition, The Question and Hawk and Dove will also be appearing next season. As for villains, Mongul will be returning for the third season and will again be voiced by Eric Roberts.
Victor Rivers (The Hulk, Batman Beyond) is voicing a key character named Hro Talak (not called Hawkman) in "Starcrossed," the three-part season finale of Justice League.
The website The Continuum reports rumors that the third season of the show might be called Justice League Unlimited. The rumors also say that the season will feature many new characters, including Firestorm, Captain Atom, Red Tornado, Atom, Black Canary and Green Arrow, although Martian Manhunter will remain a key character.
