"The epic drama Heroes chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities. As a total eclipse casts it shadow across the globe, viewers follow a genetics professor (Sendhil Ramamurthy, Blind Guy Driving) in India whose father's disappearance leads him to uncover a secret theory -- there are people with super powers living among us. A young dreamer (Milo Ventimiglia, The Bedford Diaries) tries to convince his politician brother (Adrian Pasdar, Judging Amy) that he can fly. A high school cheerleader (Hayden Panettiere, Ice Princess) learns that she is totally indestructible. A Las Vegas stripper (Ali Larter, Final Destination), struggling to make ends meet to support her young son (Noah Gray-Cabey, My Wife & Kids), uncovers that her mirror image has a secret. A prison inmate (Leonard Roberts, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) mysteriously finds himself waking up outside of his cell. A gifted artist (Santiago Cabrera, Empire), whose drug addiction is destroying his life and the relationship with his girlfriend (Tawny Cypress, Third Watch), can paint the future. A down-on-his-luck beat cop (Greg Grunberg, Alias) can hear people's thoughts, including the secrets of a captured terrorist. In Japan, a young man (Masi Oka, Scrubs) develops a way to stop time through sheer will power. Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world." (NBC's official description for the series.)
This NBC series is executive produced by creator/writer Tim Kring (Crossing Jordan), Dennis Hammer (Crossing Jordan) and David Semel (House), who also directed the pilot.

(06/29/06) - Scifi Wire recently spoke to Ali Larter, who stars in this upcoming series as Niki Sanders, a Las Vegas stripper and single mother that suddenly gains supernatural powers.
"I'm so excited to be part of the show," Larter said in an interview."It's about 10 characters from all over the world [who] discover they have these extraordinary abilities. It's not like X-Men, where all of a sudden we're flying and we know what we are. It's more a question of if you are sitting right there and you figure out that you can hear everyone else's thoughts, but you have to ... come to work every day, and you have to take your kids to school, and you still have to pay your bills."
"The internal question is: 'Are you going crazy or is this for real?'" Larter said of her character. "The way [creator and executive producer] Tim [Kring] is writing it and why I'm so excited about being part of this show is the questioning of the why. Are you helping people? Or are you hurting people in understanding what your powers are?"
What are her character's powers? "There's something that has to do with my reflection and what's happening with that, and possibly some extraordinary strength may have something to do with it all."
"The first season is about understanding what is happening to us. The characters will end up meeting each other and figuring it out, but it's not right on the nose. You don't know what is happening, and I think it will make audiences relate, because it could happen to any of us. The way [Kring] writes it makes you believe that it can. I don't know if anyone ever thought this would come out of Tim Kring's mind from Crossing Jordan. It's like he kept this locked in a special place, because he's created such an extraordinary world. It's really special."
(05/12/06) - NBC gave this series (and Raines) a green light for the 2006-2007 season.
(05/05/06) - Greg Grunberg (Alias) told SCI FI Wire about his Everyman superhero character in Heroes. "It basically really covers the humanity of becoming a superhero, what happens when [eight] ordinary people get these super powers, and I get to be one of them."
"I play a cop who can read people's minds, but I can't control it. So in the pilot it's really interesting how it just comes at me, and I don't know how to deal with it, and then I kind of use it. It could be really, really interesting if we get a series."
"You're not going to get me in tights and a leotard," he said. "No one wants to see me in a cape!" He added: "It's high-concept, obviously. It's very creepy and dark. I mean, it's disturbing at times. And then also, it's like, 'Oh, man. I wish I could do that.'"
(03/10/06) - According to Comingsoon.net, Adrian Pasdar (Desperate Housewives, Profit) and Noah Gray-Cabey (My Wife and Kids) have joined the cast of the pilot.
(02/14/06) - According to The Hollywood Reporter, Greg Grunberg (Alias), Ali Larter (Final Destination 2), Milo Ventimiglia (Gilmore Girls, and Hayden Panettiere (The Book of Daniel) have joined the cast.
