Premise:

The vampire Angel, once known as Angelus, has a human soul. Cursed with the memories of the terrible crimes he committed in the past, he seeks forgiveness and tries to redeem himself. After three years of living in Sunnydale, fighting along side Buffy Summers (of Buffy the Vampire Slayer), he moves to Los Angeles. There, aided by old and new friends, he helps the helpless by battling the supernatural creatures that prey on them.

News:

(05/16/06) - Angel ended with a cliff-hanger as the team prepared to battle a massive army of demons. Since then, there have been rumors of either a tele-movie or spin-off. Over the weekend Amy Acker spoke about the status of these proposed projects.

“I think its safe to say that’s not happening anymore,” Acker said at the London Starfury event, “'cause if they were, they’d be getting done right now. There was supposed to be three of them –- one for Spike, a Faith one and also one for Willow. I think it's safe to say that now because its not going to happen.”

“Fox couldn’t get it together the way Joss wanted to do them.”

If there had been a sixth season or series of tele-movies, what would have happened?

“I think it’s okay to say this now, since its not happening, but I think J (Charles Gunn) was to be evil in it.” she said. “He was to become a vampire really early on in this really big battle.”

(10/27/05) - Marti Noxon, executive producer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, recently spoke to SCI FI Wire about how the series' characters may live on in direct-to-DVD movies. "There are serious discussions going on about bringing some of the characters back and making a few movies that will go straight to DVD, but they will certainly be the quality they have always been," Noxon said.

"Joss is the king of jumping mediums, so it is an obvious step for him to do this," Noxon said. She said that some of the past writers, for example Drew Goddard, have been aked to turn in script ideas that would center on the minor characters. Noxon said that she doubts that Sarah Michelle Gellar would return as Buffy and also added that it will be tough to get Alyson Hannigan to return as Willow. But Noxon believes a film centered on Spike (James Marsters) or Angel (David Boreanaz) could do very well.

Currently Noxon is not writing any of the DVD movie scripts, but she may in the future. "If I get involved it would be for the Buffy-related films, not Angel, because I'm far more plugged into Buffy," she said.

(01/05/05) - According to The Continuum, IDW Publishing will publish comic books based on the television series Angel. IDW will start with a mini-series in May or June.

"It'll be set at some point after the show ended," Ryall said. "We'll also do a couple one-shots that spotlight other characters and have more minis beyond the first one."

(8/18/04) - According to E! Online, Charisma Carpenter (Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will guest-star in at least two episodes of The WB's Charmed next season. The first episode is scheduled to air Sept. 26th.

(7/16/04) - James Marsters recently appeared on Australian television and said that he has been contacted by Joss Whedon to star in one of four television movies set in the Buffy Universe. According to Marsters, there are plans to do four movies with each focusing on a character from Buffy & Angel (Angel, Spike, Giles, and Willow). Either all four will be made or none would be made and so far he is the only one to commit.

"Angel" also tied with "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" for Best Network Series.

(04/16/04) E! Online's Watch With Kristin column reports that Angel won't be coming back as a regular series, either on the WB, UPN, or on Fox. But, it was reported that the WB has approached creator Joss Whedon about doing at least a movie-of-the-week or two (possibly as many as six) next season, thanks in large part to a fan campaign organized to save the show.

(04/14/04) TV-Now.com recently did an interview with Julie Benz. Click on the link to read the interview.

(02/17/04) In a surprise move, the WB Network has confirmed that the current fifth season of Angel will be its last. There is a petition online, if your interested in signing. The petition is at http://www.petitiononline.com/angels6/.

(01/14/04) Joss Whedon, co-creator of Angel, told the website SCI-FI Wire that future familiar faces for season five will include: Andrew (Tom Lenk), Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) and possibly Connor (Vincent Kartheiser). Joss Whedon confirmed that Sarah Michelle Gellar definitely won't show this season.

(12/17/03) TV Guide reports that Sarah Michelle Gellar won't be back as Buffy in Angel this season, despite talks for her to return for a two-episode arc during May sweeps. Angel co-creator Joss Whedon told TV Guide, "She feels it's not the right time."
